Marcellus and Utica Shale

Focused primarily in PA, OH, WV, and NY, AMP is actively developing gathering, transportation, and processing solutions with Marcellus and Utica shale producers. With AMP’s capital commitment from Avista Capital it is able to quickly respond to development opportunities.

The Marcellus shale formation is currently considered the largest unconventional natural gas reservoir in the world and lies under much of the Appalachian Basin. Recoverable reserves from this formation are estimated to be at least 489 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).

The Utica Shale is a rock unit located a few thousand feet below the Marcellus Shale. It also has the potential to become an enormous natural gas resource. The Utica Shale is thicker than the Marcellus, it is more geographically extensive and it has already proven its ability to support commercial production.
