Michael Calderone, President & CEO
Michael Calderone is President and Chief Executive Officer of Appalachian Midstream Partners, LLC (AMP), a private midstream group actively developing and acquiring gas gathering assets in the Marcellus and Utica shale fairways. In addition to being President of AMP, Mr. Calderone also serves as President of Somerset Gas Transmission Company, LLC (Somerset Gas), a privately-held company engaged in the development and operation of natural gas pipelines serving wholesale markets in the United States. Mr. Calderone joined Somerset Gas as Senior Vice President in 2004 and was elected President in 2009. During this time Mr. Calderone assisted or lead the company through multiple asset acquisitions including the purchase of Columbia’s 1818-1862 pipeline system of North Central, PA in 2009. After establishing the system’s first anchor customer, the former Columbia system, now operating as Somerset Gas Gathering of Pennsylvania and renamed “Bear Print Pipeline,” was contributed to a new venture with Avista Capital Partners –Appalachian Midstream Partners.
Prior to joining Somerset, Mr. Calderone was the Chief Operating Officer of Energy USA-TPC Corporation, and responsible for day to day operations of the company's gas marketing and trading activities as well as all back and mid-office functions. Mr. Calderone joined TPC in 1991 as Director of Profit Optimization and was primarily responsibility for selling storage and commodity services through the company's salt-cavern storage facilities. In 1994, Mr. Calderone was elected Vice President-Gas Marketing and later Senior Vice President of Marketing & Trading.
Prior to TPC, Mr. Calderone worked for CNG Transmission Corporation as Manager of Transportation & Exchange and Manager of Interstate Marketing. In these roles, Mr. Calderone helped to established CNG's transportation program required by Order 436 and was responsible for renegotiating and securing new sales and transportation services in response to the order. Prior to 1985, Mr. Calderone was engaged in the private practice of law and holds a B.A. and J.D from Duquesne University.
Scott Jurcenko, CPA, Finance Consultant
Scott Jurcenko is Chief Finance Consultant for Appalachian Midstream Partners, LLC and Somerset Gas Transmission Company, LLC. Mr. Jurcenko joined Somerset in 2005 and provides all necessary financial and certain tax services. Mr. Jurcenko has practiced as a private business financial consultant since 2002. He currently retains four clients serving natural gas distribution, commercial real estate development and management and commercial and residential construction. Prior to his consulting practice, Mr. Jurcenko was Vice President, Middle Market Banking with National City Bank and was responsible for overall portfolio management and development.
Before joining National City, Mr. Jurcenko was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BellePointe, Inc., a privately-held distribution and retail women’s apparel company. Mr. Jurcenko was responsible for overall financial management and related corporate financing. His duties also included the day-to-day management of the retail division, human resources, benefits administration, warehousing and facilities management.
Mr. Jurcenko received his B.S.B.A. in accounting from The Ohio State University in 1985 and his Ohio CPA designation in 1987. Mr. Jurcenko is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on several Boards as a member and Treasurer and Chair of several committees. He has also been a presenter to the Ohio Foundation for Entrepreneurial Education.
Rose Hanzlik, Business Development Director
Ms. Hanzlik joined Appalachian Midstream Partners, LLC (AMP) in 2011 and currently serves as a Business Development Director. Prior to joining AMP, Ms. Hanzlik held various positions during her 10 years with Constellation Energy. As Regional Sales Manager, Ms. Hanzlik established the Ohio office which generated nearly $100 million in commodity and energy services for over 200 clients in just two year. As Director of Consulting Services, Ms. Hanzlik, successfully lead the consulting services team to develop strategic nationwide energy procurement programs to meet and exceed client budget goals and objectives. During her role as Director the Consulting Services team managed over $6 billion of annual energy expenditures on behalf of clients.
Prior to Constellation, Ms. Hanzlik was the Energy Commodity Manager for the GE Lighting Division as well as the Productivity Leader for Energy Efficiency. While at GE, Ms. Hanzlik was responsible for energy procurement for forty manufacturing plants in North America. She reduced energy spend for commodities and successfully led productivity (energy conservation) improvements, achieving a combined cost reduction benefit of over 10% in the first year. Ms. Hanzlik also led the GE R&D team, using the six sigma methodology, to develop a computer module to analyze: production data with compressed air production efficiencies; plant and shift productivity; and variance in the plant systems. This project resulted in an estimated 50% energy reduction of compressed air for the pilot plant.
Ms. Hanzlik began her energy career as an Account Executive Representative at Centerior Energy (now FirstEnergy Corporation). During her last four of nine years at FirstEnergy, Ms. Hanzlik was accountable for key accounts, such as Chrysler Corporation, General Electric, ALCOA, and Parker Hannifin. Her key accomplishments included negotiating a multi-million dollar agreement with GE, and she was instrumental bringing new Chrysler/Jeep facility to Northern Ohio.
Ms. Hanzlik graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, she is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and a member of: the Association of Energy Engineering (AEE), Alternative & Renewable Energy Development Institute, Environmental Engineers & Managers Institute and Facility Managers Institute.
Lee Lochtefeld, Development Associate
Lee Lochtefeld is the Development Associate for Appalachian Midstream Partners and is responsible for project modeling and operations analysis. Mr. Lochtefeld joined Somerset Gas Transmission Company, LLC in late 2009 as a Business Analyst and activity participated in modeling Somerset’s gathering business plan for Pennsylvania and the subsequent joint venture partnership-Appalachian Midstream Partners, LLC.
Mr. Lochtefeld is a graduated of the University of Dayton’s School of Business Administration where he studied entrepreneurship and finance. In 2005, Mr. Lochtefeld joined the university’s Davis Center for Portfolio Management where he was later appointed Associate Manager. This nationally recognized program is credited with organizing the R.I.S.E. Forum (Redefining Investment Strategy Education), the world’s largest annual student investment forum. In 2007, Mr. Lochtefeld served as a student manager of the university’s $8.2 M student managed equity portfolio outperforming the university’s top money manager in 2008.
Prior to graduation, Mr. Lochtefeld founded LMP Investors, LLC a small business development partnership, which earned him UD’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Award in 2008. Mr. Lochtefeld is also a recipient of the Boy Scout’s Eagle Scout Award.
